Jack DebBaruah
Camp Experience: Crawdads Counselor (5-6 Year Olds) Counselor ‘24
Jack (he/him) (‘27) is absolutely stoked to return for his second year at Camp. Last year as a Crawdads (5-6 year olds) counselor, Jack gloriously relived the wonders of his kindergarten years—days filled with piggyback rides, treasure hunts, and mermaid sightings that were anything but imaginary. But when he wasn’t busy chasing kids through obstacle courses or following a fabled buried treasure map, you could probably find Jack blending up a late-night milkshake concoction or sharing laughs with his co-staff under the stars. Back at Stanford, Jack splits his time between guiding tours around campus, volunteering on local farms, playing beach volleyball with friends, and assisting self-represented litigants at the San Mateo County Superior Court. Having previously worked on Capitol Hill and his mayor’s office back home in Wisconsin, he hopes to combine his interests in government and outdoor education to help make the outdoors a more accessible place for all people. Through it all, he’s learned the incredible power of showing up for others—something he hopes to carry into his role on ICOM this year. Jack is beyond excited to make even more unforgettable memories with campers and staff and would love to chat with you—whether about his mountain-climbing adventures, finding community at Camp, why the Packers are going to win the NFC, or the best ice cream flavors to order at the Camp store (he has a spreadsheet)!
