Childlike joy is something Edie comes back to time and again, even as she finishes her senior year at Stanford. Originally from Eugene, Oregon, she grew up with a love of learning and the natural world. After working as a Crawdads counselor (ages 5-6) in 2025 and a Marmots counselor (ages 11-12) in 2026, she has found that Sierra Camp is one of the few places that truly centers this kind of joy for children and adults alike. She is so excited to return this summer as KGC! She aims to help facilitate a kids’ program where campers are excited to learn about their environment and feel free to express themselves, while counselors and parents feel supported in bringing that camp magic to life.
At Stanford, Edie is pursuing a major in Psychology with minors in Spanish and Education. She hopes to bring these interests together in the future as an elementary school teacher. She has also been deeply involved in education programs through the Haas Center for Public Service - ask her about Preschool Counts! One way she keeps the whimsy of camp alive on campus is by captaining Firefly, the women’s ultimate frisbee B-team, with as much spirit and glitter as possible. Expect to see that spirit on the sand court during Staph V. Guest!
That said, there’s no place like SSC! Edie can’t wait to meet new guests and staph and reconnect with returning ones, all who make up the camp family she feels so lucky to be part of. Strengthening those camp family connections is one of her favorite things, so come say hello!
