Adobe PDFS: Information | Application | Reference | Optional Form

  Lots of hands

The 2008 application is available online in Adobe Acrobat format now! You can download it, print it out, and submit it just like the formal application (see below). If you don't have Adobe Acrobat, you can get it here .

Every application packet includes the written application itself; a reference form to be filled out by a former employer, RA, or past Sierra Camp staffer; an optional information form to be used for data collection on Sierra Camp applicants; and a general description of all jobs, as well as details of specific positions. All applications must be brought to the front desk at Francis C. Arrillaga Alumni Center by Friday, January 18, at 5pm. The Alumni Center is open between 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday. When you drop off your application, you will be asked to sign up for an interview. There will be a sign-up list provided. First round interviews begin immediately after the written applications are due, and continue through February.

Here's how the selection process works: all first-time applicants are interviewed by two members of the Interviewing Committee. Sixty first-time applicants are chosen to go on to the second round interview pool, joining former staffers (usually around 35) who are re-applying. Final selections are made after the second round interviews, conducted by Assistant Camp Director Antja Thompson and Staff Director Brad Burton. Former staff and new applicants will be given equal consideration in the second round of interviews for the 60 available positions. The entire process takes place during Winter Quarter, and you will be notified of decisions prior to Spring Break.

As mentioned above, a reference form and an optional information form are also due with the written application. Please request a reference from a present or former employer/supervisor or a member of the Stanford community who knows you well (for instance, an RF, an RA, or a former Sierra Camp staff member). The person completing the form should send it directly to Francis C. Arillaga Alumni Center (attn: Brad Burton, via US mail, fax, hand-delivery, or email). Please double-check with this person to make sure we receive this form on time. The optional information form will be removed from the rest of the written application prior to our viewing, and is both anonymous and completely separate from the application process. It is purely for statistical purposes, as Stanford Sierra Camp is trying to collect data on our applicant pool.

Information session schedule will be updated soon.

We look forward to getting to know you through both your application and your interview. If you have any questions, please contact Staff Director Brad Burton via email.
